Founded by singer/percussionist/producer Carlos Navarro, Son y Clave has been a part of the Latin-Mambo dance genre in the United States for many years and features many well-known guest musicians. This band is well known for being very elegant and well-presented and at the same time performs a wide variety of music that is pleasant, and easy to listen and dance to.
Among its many credits are opening for acts such as the Rolling Stones, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Oscar De Leon, and Hansel y Haul, as well as headlining for many dance competitions around the country. This band was awarded such well-deserved performances because of its reputation as being a rhythmic and danceable band.
This band is also a favorite of the Hollywood film scene and has appeared and performed in many television shows and movies such as Almost a Woman directed by the award winning filmmaker Betty Kaplan, and is currently recording the soundtrack for the film One starring Jimmy Smits.
Son y Clave Orchestra is favored by many dance enthusiasts and promoters. This well-known Latin dance band has been performing live around the Southern California area at many concerts and events and has been the house band at popular LA. Nightspots such as The Conga Room, The Sports-man’s Lodge, The Mayan, The Century Grana-da Ballroom, Floridita Restaurant, Cafe Sevilla, The Westin Bonaventure Hotel, the Beverly Hotel, and the Beverly Wilshire hotel, as well as many other venues. The band has also performed in a myriad of Latin Jazz festivals all over the Western United States and this year will be touring in West and South Africa, as well as Europe. Son y Clave is soon to release the debut of its much anticipated album titled Havana West. The album is promising to be a must have among many music and dance enthusiasts. The band’s diversity makes it a favorite of the musk and dance fans around the world and takes great pleasure in accommodating the needs of the diverse communities and entertainment venues in and around Southern California.
