What’s Happening in London?

Five Salsa & Latin Jazz Events To Be Held In The UK Capital That You Can’t-Miss

The United Kingdom has removed essential restrictions against Covid-19 and its Omicron variant after battling weeks with the new wave of infections in the country since the end of last year.

The British executive has provided the relaxation of the restrictive measures due to the low numbers of infected people and deaths. This relaxation seeks to initiate the return to complete normality.

The new measures that are no longer mandatory are the use of masks (it will be at personal discretion, however, they must wear them if the site is crowded with unknown people or it is a closed space), and Covid passports are no longer a legal requirement to enter to the establishment.

For these reasons, we bring you a range of options in the Salsa & Latin Jazz genres in the country this month that you will be excited to see, and that you will not want to miss any detail. Here, we go…

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays you will live the Salsa experience with the instructor Ramiro Zapata (from Bolivia) with more than 20 years of experience in Salsa. Ramiro teaches his Cross Body style with a mix of Cuban, Colombian, and Puerto Rican Salsa, as well as a strong focus on Cali (Colombia) style footwork, male body movement, and female style. The cost of the lessons varies depending on the length of instruction; one hour is £10 while two hours cost £12. Lessons start at 7:30 PM and end at 9:30 PM except on Sundays with Rumba Pa’ Ti classes which are from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This dance professional was born in Havana (Cuba). From an early age, he got into dance and was a member of several dance companies on the Caribbean island, which allowed him to perfect each of the Afro-Cuban rhythms such as Rumba, Mambo, Casino, and others.

He began teaching dance lessons in 2002 in his native country and later did it in Germany in 2006. Since 2010 he has shared his knowledge at Salsa Congress and festivals in Europe and the rest of the world.

View of the Mirabell Palace with the background of the cathedral and the Fortress in Salzburg, Austria
Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, Austria
  • Salzburg is one of the most beautiful and charming cities in Central Europe. Its Historic Center was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, which attracted a greater number of international tourists a year.
  • One of the most visited places in this Austrian city is the Mirabell Palace. This magnificent seat was built in 1606 by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich. Its wonderful view of the cathedral and the imperious castle together with the perfectly manicured rose gardens makes it an extremely photogenic place. Access to the Mirabell Palace is free but a large part of its spaces are closed to the general public.
  • In Salzburg, you will also come across the “Mozart Birthplace” museum located on one of the main avenues. Here you will find the piano with which Mozart made his compositions, scores, and other personal belongings. The cost of entry does not exceed 10 euros.
  • And the place that most attracts visitors to Austria daily is the Hohensalzburg Fortress. It is located on a small hill in the heart of Salzburg. It was built in 1077 and has only received modifications dating back to 1500. The curious thing about this castle is that it never was taken by its enemies, and today it is one of the most preserved fortresses in Europe.
