I was born in Manhattan, New York on December 1, 1969. My parents Pablo and Haydee Padin moved from Puerto Rico to New York in 1968. My father played Timbales with local salsa groups at the time, so I grew up with a pair of Timbales at home.
My father started teaching me how to play at a very young age. We moved to LA. , California in 1978 and I started playing drums in the school band and in the community drill teams as well.
I (Pablo Padin) got my first private drum set lesson at the age of 9 at a music school in Hollywood California.

At the age of 15, I (Pablo Padin) started playing my first steady gig in a salsa band with my father at a nightclub in Marina Del Rey, California.
In 1989 we moved to Puerto Rico so I started studying music at the Interamerican University in San German, PR. At the university I studied with the musicians that were playing with all the big salsa and merengue groups of that time.
So at that point in time I started playing with famous salsa singers such as Roberto Lugo, Nino Segarra, Hector Tricoche, Domingo Quiñones and Johnny Rivera.
At the same time I started doing studio work as well. In 1996 I got the call to play with Gilberto SantaRosa and did that gig for 15 years. It was with Gilberto that I hooked up with piano player, arranger and producer Jose Lugo.
Jose started using me on all of his studio productions. I have won 6 Latin Grammys and 2 American Grammys on recordings and productions of artists such as: Millie Quezada, Elvis Crespo, Grupo Mania, Gilberto SantaRosa and Tito El Bambino.

At that point in my career I started recording and playing concerts with artist such as Puerto Rican Power, Pedro Brull, Yomo Toro & Willie Colón, Andy Montañez, Ismael Miranda, Tito Nieves, Cheo Feliciano, Rafael De Jesus, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Bobby Valentín, Marvin Santiago, Cano Estremera, Victor Manuelle, Ruben Blades, Ray De La Paz, Jose Alberto ”El Canario” Lalo Rodriguez, Truko Y Zaperoko, DLG, Isaac Delgado, Herman Oliveras, Edwin Colón Zayas and many others.
To this date I’ve been working with Jose Lugo’s Guasabara Combo, in which our first cd was nominated for the Latin Grammy.
We are working on our third cd now that will include two original compositions of mine. I’m super exited, humbled and thankful for all the great experiences that I’ve lived and for the ones that are yet to come, Thank You God!!!!!

The Colombian salsa artist Willy García has surprised his fans with a new album full of salsa, of course the fast one, but where he also shows love songs hand in hand with nostalgia. Without neglecting touches of calculated risks and adventures to give all the listeners an album with a lot of great sounds, just like the one from Buenaventura has accustomed us to. Know a little more about this album with the following words.
Mentiroso is a fast-tempo song that is exactly what Willy enjoys the most, but that doesn’t mean that the album isn’t a walk through different rhythms and tempos that offer us a glimpse into the thoughts of this great artist. There are songs in the style of “Como lo extraño” where each emigrant can feel identified with the nostalgia towards his homeland. But then we can find some risky tracks that go a bit far from his classic style.
For example, there is “Aquí le pago con esto” which is a collaboration with Cali Flow Latino where sounds of salsa, urban, tropical rhythms and holiday flavors are fused. In this way Willy wants to please his old fans but attract the new generations with modern sounds. The other songs are all romantic in style, but it is the last one on this list that Willy is most proud of,“Me enamoré de ella” is one of his favorites.
“Mujeres”, “Me Recuerda a Ti”, “Que Se Detenga el Tiempo” and “Si Eres Tu”, are all about love and romantic feelings that are precisely part of that essence that makes so many stick to the salsa genre. Another song that is worth talking about is “Cada día” which could be another hit for the radio and especially on the dance floors.
Starting with the song “Mentiroso”, it should be noted that it was mastered in New York City, recorded between Cali and Miami, with lyrics by Willy himself, in addition to the fact that he participated in the production together with the great Oscar Iván Lozano.
Among the musicians who participated in the recordings we can find many well-known names from the Colombian territory, such as Diego Galé who played the congas and the bongo, Diego Galindo, Johan Castro, Luis Araque and Christian Fernández did the choirs, while Luis Bravo and Carlos Latoche in the horn section, bassist Carlos Córdoba, timbalero Robert Vilera and Óscar Iván Lozano himself on piano.

Willy García’s career as a soloist is an incredible example that when there is talent, no matter how it is represented, it will always shine. We can name many recognitions and achievements, but the last few years have been one achievement after another that fill this son of the South American country with great pride.
First we must name achieving nominations for the Latin GRAMMY® 2021, in addition to the 2022 Heat Awards and 2022 Lo Nuestro Awards. Not counting the excellent positions it achieved on charts such as Billboard’s Tropical Airplay where it entered the top 10. It also managed to position himself at the number 1 of the USA Today’s chart, one of the most read publications in North America, with “Lo Veo y No Lo Creo” together with Gilberto SantaRosa “El Caballero de la Salsa”.
In addition to participating in the concert “Night of the Dominican Restoration” where he sang with Sergio Vargas. He also received from El Espectador the “Afro-Colombian Of The Year” award in the Arts and Music category. In general, 2022 only smiles at this great Colombian and more success are only expected from his fifth production as a soloist.
The wait is over and Fiesta opens its doors with a new season of Latin concerts during the summer

Festival Fiesta has been the point of reference in Italy for Latin American concerts and events for 27 years.
Since 1995 the Fiesta club has been the point of reference for Latin American culture in Italy during summer nights in Rome.
Fiesta is located in the Rosati Tourist Park (Parco Rosati -Eur) and has an area of 5,000 square meters with a capacity of 3,500 people. Its distribution consists of an outdoor music room equipped with a stage with a led wall for live music and two dance rooms for different musical styles (Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, Rumba, Merengue, Timba, reggae, and reggaeton).

In this regard, the artistic director Mansur Naziri expressed the following: “Over the years I have witnessed several changes in the audience of Fiesta. Now, we have reached the new generations, those the children of immigrants who were born in Italy feel Italian but still keep their traditions alive, even through music. Next to them are the Italians who dancing and listening to Latin songs have also learned a little Spanish, giving life to a beautiful cultural fusion…”
The most representative Salsa artists who have come to this evocative stage of the Eternal City have been Celia Cruz, Los Van Van, Rubén Blades, Gilberto Santarosa, Tito Puente, Oscar D’ León, and Marc Anthony, among many others.
This year the club with its Fiesta festival will continue to offer the best of the Latin music scene from the traditional to the most current. Here are the Salsa artists who will be performing in the cool of Rome’s nights from June to August.
PUPY Y LOS QUE SON SON

Pupy was the pianist in the Revé Orchestra
The Cuban traditional music orchestra created and directed by the pianist, composer, and director César Pedroso Fernández better known as “Pupy” will be performing on Wednesday, June 1st, and tickets don’t exceed €17.
Pupy is recognized for being one of the most important figures in Timba and traditional Cuban music. He participated in two emblematic orchestras during his career: Orquesta Revé and Los Van Van. In this last-mentioned band, he was one of the founders along with his partner and friend Juan Formell.
After 32 years of artistic career, on October 4th, 2001, he formed his band Pupy y Los Que Son Son. Its name derives from the recognition of “Son” as a musical genre where his roots come from, and the style of the band is the fusion of the different instrumental formats with the “Tumbao”.
HAVANA D’PRIMERA

Alexander Abreu spent his childhood in Cienfuegos city (Cuba), where he began playing the trumpet at ten years old.
The band of more than ten musicians created in 2008 and founded by the Cuban trumpeter, singer, and composer Alexander Abreu will take the Fiesta stage on Friday, June 3rd, and you can get the ticket for €30.
Alexander Abreu has become one of the most versatile and acclaimed Cuban musicians in Afro-Cuban music. “I have always seen Havana D’Primera with 15 people on stage, and everyone said that it was impossible, that it would be too expensive, too difficult to move… It is how we started: 14 or 15 of us and a lot of positive energy, now we are stronger than ever.” Abreu commented.
Havana D’Primera’s first album is Haciendo Historia released in 2009, followed by Cantor del Pueblo (2018), A Romper el Coco (2019), and Será que se acabó (2021).
LOS VAN VAN

Los Van Van was the first Cuban group to replace a solo singer with a vocal quartet.
The musical orchestra founded by Juan Formell in Havana (Cuba) in December 1969 will arrive on Saturday, August 6th. They will present their fusion of Cuban Son, Jazz, and Rock with the incorporation of percussion, trombones, keyboards, electronic violins, flutes, bass, and drums for a rhythmic and harmonic sound that complements the quartet of voices, and you can get tickets for a value of €30.
